*
simplypoetry is the new sister project to *
simplyprose, where poetry is the name of the game! *
simplypoetry aims to provide a place on dA where poets can feature their poems without a selection process.
But there's a catch! *
simplypoetry is more than just a place for people to pimp their work. We hope to generate new poetry on dA. For this reason, *
simplypoetry will only feature poems that have been written for prompts that *simplypoetry has provided. These prompts will hopefully also serve as points of inspiration for those who want to write but just don't have the inspiration.
This is not a club. There is no joining process. How it works is simple:
Every month, a new journal entry will be put up with the month's prompts. There will be four types of prompts: a voice prompt, a form prompt, a word association prompt, and a miscellaneous prompt. You can write for a single prompt, or for any combination of prompts.
If you want to get involved, all you have to do is devwatch us, write some poems, and note us with
a link to your submissions! That's it!
Daily DeviationsPlease remember to alert *
ThornyEnglishRose or =
vix0r if a piece you have written for *
simplypoetry is featured as a Daily Deviation. For now, the piece will simply be featured on our shoutboard. In the future, we may create a special feature of some kind for those very special pieces and their authors.
We at *
simplypoetry will be looking for pieces that we feel are of high enough quality to suggest as a Daily Deviation, so
there's an incentive for you!
Update:Thank you for those who expressed interest in helping out! The spot has been filled, we are happy to say, and when the team has settled, we will post up a new team introduction page to show who switched in what spots, and introduve our newest members. Thank you guys for the support though!
Voice Prompt:This past month a lot of things have happened for people in school. For some, the month was just the marking of summers coming, but for others school is forever gone!
Write from the view of a newly graduated student, either high school or college. If you have yet to graduate think of how you hope it will be, if it was many years ago you graduated, think back to how it was then. And if you just recently graduated think about what happened, and tell us your feelings.
Form Prompt:A Found Poem is a piece not intended to be a poem, but discovered in a newspaper article or magazine, or from bits of conversation, or even from the contents of a note, then announced as such by its finder.
The finder may not change, add to, or omit words, but may choose its arrangement of line breaks and punctuation.
Example from a conversation
Snapshot
I see
from the window
my cat
heading up toward
the kitchen door.
Guess I'd better go
feed
him.
Word Association Prompt:Spider, Escape, Grin
Remember all three words must be used in the poem for it to be accepted. Miscellaneous Prompt:Everyone has memories of summer fun, maybe a memory of a carnival, or the beach. Write a poem based on your experiences with the fun of summers.
